The Finnish Transport Agency started operating on January 1st 2010.
The new agency combines the Rail Administration and parts of the Maritime Administration and Road Administration. The Road Regions are now parts of the new Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
The complete structural reform of the transport administration will facilitate more comprehensive traffic system thinking as the various modes of transport come together under the new Transport Infrastructure Agency.
International study titled “International Overview of Innovative Contracting Practices for Roads” was initiated from “The Netherlands” and derived from a large research program package called - “Next Generation
Infrastructure (NGI)”.
